Wow … it’s been a week since the first Anime Festival Asia Indonesia (AFAID) 2012 ended. Yes, Nendonesia has also taken part in the event by opening a community booth there and I am going to share a bit of our experience during that unforgettable moments in this report. XD
Kindly scroll past the break to view the complete report.
Note: Credits for most photos go to Pus2meong, Lazypioneer, Shuuya, and Juan.
Setting Up The Booth: Part 1
That day, August 31st, just one day before AFAID 2012 took place, I arrived in Jakarta from Surabaya on around 1PM. I went to the hotel to unload some of my personal stuff and went straightly to AFAID 2012 venue in JIEXPO.
I met Pus2meong and Lazypioneer just after I finished taking care of the administration stuff and we started to bring our stuff to the booth, including the display case, X-banner, flyers, and the Nendoroids to be showcased.
Shinkyu joined us to help set the Nendoroid in the display case, while Pus2meong went out to print the photos to be used on the photo wall.
When we were waiting for Pus2meong to return, we had a surprising guest: Takanori Aki, president of Good Smile Company, who came and paid a visit to our booth. Thanks to Vincent Kuroyami who took the photo we see above. XD
We gave Aki-sachou one Nendonesia’s flyer as well, which he tweeted last week.
Pus2meong arrived a bit late in the night, so we decided to call it a day and continue it on the next day, just before the exhibition started.
Setting Up The Booth: Part 2
I arrived at the venue on around 8AM in the morning, and this is what I saw at the ticket booth:
Yes, it was quite a long queue in front of the ticket exchange counter. A friend told me that he had to queue for about 2 hours before he finally got inside the venue.

Corridor to the venue
Fortunately, as an exhibitor, we were able to enter the venue prior to the attendees, before it got too crowded.

Entering the exhibition hall
I met Pus2meong and Lazypioneer just in front of the exhibition hall. Well then, time to enter the hall and pick up from what we left yesterday! ^^
Juan and SaintDemon also joined us to help setting up the booth.
Momonoji and Shinkyu arrived shortly afterwards to help setting up the X-banners and tidying up the booth.

Setting the other X-banner, tidying up the booth
Cybeast arrived a bit later to bring some Nendoroid to be displayed, while Shuuya joined us to help us watching over the booth.
The Visitors: Crowd
I have to say that it was totally unexpected that we would have so many visitors at the booth. Here’s how it looks like:
We didn’t expect that we would be having this many visitors. In fact, we ran out of flyers in less than 6 hours, although we prepared it for two-days exhibition.

Admiring Nendoroid’s cuteness? XD
I also met with some Nendonesian here, and although that was the first time I met some of them, they were so friendly. Thank you for visiting the booth Icha, Lita, Dira, Ferris, Aga, Tako, Billy, Noza, Fauzan, Desi, Anton, Exceltron, and other Nendonesian that I forgot to mention.
We also have a pair of Guest Signature Board (for Day 1 and 2) that the visitors can use to write short comments and leave their signatures as a remark that they have visited Nendonesia booth.
The Visitors: Cosplayers
Among the visitors, there were some cosplayers who comes to our booth. Juan and Momonoji were asking their fellow cosplayers to visit the booth and take photos.
Thanks for making our booth even more lively!
The Visitors: Photographers
Obviously, there were a lot visitors who took photos of the Nendoroid inside the display case as well as the booth decoration. I am really curious to see how they captured the cuteness of Nendoroid with their camera. XD
I also come across some great folks whom I admire for their wonderful photos, such as Kurodot, Allgroasai, Alictoya, and JozzyCozzy. Thank you for visiting the booth and supporting us!
The Visitors: Special Guest – Takanori Aki and GSC Crew
GSC’s Aki-sachou had visited the booth on Day 0, but we had not finished setting up our booth at that time, so we asked him to re-visit us on Day 1. Yep, he did visit our booth again the next day, and this time he brought along his crew.
We asked him to sign the proof print of The Wandering Fay photobook and let him took a look at the photobook too.
“Sugoi!” was one of his comments when he flipped the pages of the photobook.
Aki-sachou also left us his signature in the Guest Signature Board.
Anyway, we also met Aki-sachou and his staff on Day 2. This time, he was chatting and taking photos with some fans near GSC’s booth.
Pus2meong asked Aki-sachou to sign the print sample of the completed photobook. He also decided to give away a copy of the photobook for Aki-sachou. We also gave him a black-colored Nendonesia badge there.
Aki-sachou looks amazed when he saw through the pages inside the photobook.
Thank you for visiting Nendonesia booth, Aki-sachou and Good Smile Company’s crew. 🙂
The Visitors: Special Guest – Danny Choo
Danny Choo of Culture Japan paid a visit to Nendonesia’s booth on Day 2.
Unfortunately, some admins were not present when we took photos with Danny-san.
We also asked Danny-san to sign the sample print of The Wandering Fay photobook.
Danny-san also left us his signature on the Guest Signature Board.
Pus2meong gave away a copy of The Wandering Fay photobook to Danny-san later that day, when we were about to close down the booth. We also gave away a Nendonesia badge for Danny-san.
Thank you for visiting Nendonesia booth, Danny-san! 🙂
Nendoroid Showcase
This is how the completed display case looks like:
The display case consists of three levels and entirely made of glasses. In order to save space, we decided to add another level inside each level by using Nendoroid boxes. XD

Handmade sign board, pasted on the top of the display case
This lovely hand-made framed board is made by sh3rli, a famous Nendoroid collector and photographer. Thank you, sh3rli!
This is where we put the Nendoroid boxes after we unpacked them and put the Nendoroid on display. FYI, some of those Nendoroid were initially brand new, i.e still inside sealed boxes. XD
During the second half of Day 2, Lazypioneer put his laptop on top of the display case and he played a slideshow of Nendoroid photos there.
Those were the Nendoroid roster that were displayed on Nendonesia booth during two days of AFAID 2012. If you want to see the close-up pics, kindly visit the Flickr set here.
Photo Wall
A few days before AFAID 2012, I discussed with Pus2meong about this idea. As we didn’t have enough time to open a photo submission, we decided to select a few photos from Nendonesia Photocon #1 and The Wandering Fay photobook to be put on the Photo Wall.

The Wandering Fay Photobook
Another point of interest that attracted the attendees to visit our booth is The Wandering Fay photobook. Yes, thanks to Pus2meong, the project manager for the project, we were able to provide the visitors with some samples of the photobook. Interested folks could contact Pus2meong directly for inquiry regarding the photobook pre-order.
A lot of attendees seems to be interested with the photobook. No worries! Pus2meong said that the next batch of pre-order for the photobook will begin shortly – perhaps in 1-2 days. Stay tuned for more updates! XD
Other Booths: Good Smile Company
GSC opens a booth in AFAID 2012 – you can say this is one of the reason that motivated us to open up a booth in the event. Yes, one of our main mission was letting GSC know that there are a Nendoroid collectors community in Indonesia. XD
Anyway, here are how GSC booth in AFAID 2012 looks like on Day 0:
They also bring along a few prototypes there.
They also put some Nendoroid and Petites from Vocaloid series on display there, along with Nendoroid Petites Puella Magi Madoka Magica set. XD
A lot of lovely figurine posters were also seen in GSC booth, as you can see from the photos above.
Yep, GSC also sell some of their products there: Nendoroid Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, KAITO, and Saber-Rin Cheerful were put on sale along with Nendoroid Petite Vocaloid set and Fate/hollow ataraxia set. However, the most interesting stuff (IMHO) were the Vocaloid straps.
Thank you for coming to AFAID 2012, Good Smile Company! Hope to see you again on next event(s). XD
Other Booths: Culture Japan
Danny Choo‘s Culture Japan booth is also one of the main point of interest in AFAID 2012.
Danny-san also setup a contest to win a Nendoroid Suenaga Mirai. The quick how-tos can be seen in pic above. XD
Other Booths: FIGMANIA
Actually, we had been working together with FIGMANIA‘s admins to make sure that our community booth could participate in AFAID 2012. XD
Anyway, FIGMANIA booth was located just beside Nendonesia booth, and this is how it looks like:
FIGMANIA booth was also fully packed with visitors during exhibition day. Oh, and their booth setup looked stunning as well. XD
Thank you for your help, FIGMANIA! Hopefully we can work together again for the next events. ^^

Note: One of Nendonesia’s admin Pus2meong posted his own view of the event on his blog, Nekoroid.com.
Kyahhhh! Aki-sachou AND Danny Choo got copies of the “Wandering Fay” photo book!? That means… they saw my picture inside of it. *Turns red* I… I feel honored that they saw everyone’s pictures! 😀
