Yes, I know that Nendoroid Totori has been around for almost half a year now … so why do I review it now? Well, actually I have already taken most of her pics to be used in the review since a few months ago. However I was missing the main image – yes, I refer to the pic you see above. I forgot to take the photo everytime I do Nendoroid photo session here, hence the late review. XD
Well then, without further ado, skip past the break to view the review. ^^
Before we get into the Nendoroid review, let’s have a brief introduction about Totori. Her full name is Totooria Helmold, and she is the main character of a PS3 RPG titled Atelier Totori: The Alchemist of Arland 2 made by Gust. As a young alchemist, Totori travelled to Arland to obtain her adventurer’s license in order to search for her mother who has gone missing since she was still a child. She is very optimistic and believes that her mother is still alive.
Well, now that you have known better about her, let’s get straightly into the Nendoroid review.
IMHO, Totori’s box reflects the main theme of the game: alchemy and adventure, while still emphasizing on Totori’s outfit color theme. Beautiful! ^^
Here are a list of parts and accessories included within the package:
- Three faceplates (one is attached)
- Three left arms (one is attached)
- Two right arms (one is attached)
- A lower body for sitting pose
- Extra back hair part (without stand plugin socket)
- A staff
- An adventurer mini travel bag
- A dynamite
- Two test tubes
- A flask
- Chimu, the homunculus
Let’s take a look at some Nendoroid Totori’s features:
Since the first time I saw Mikatan’s preview of Nendoroid Totori, I had been captivated by the beautiful design of Totori’s outfit and accessories. GSC has done well to put the artistic details from the original art to the Nendoroid. It seems so luxurious and looks like a high-class outfit. IMHO, she has the quality of being a limited/exclusive Nendoroid, especially in term of the Nendoroid design! XD
Similar to how Totori’s outfit is sculpted, her stuff are also incredibly detailed for such small sized items. Her staff and bag are nicely reproduced from the original artwork, while her flask and test tubes simply look like the real thing as well! ^^
Chimu (Chim) is a homunculus created by Rorona to help Totori. (S)he is also sculpted with a nice attention of details there, compared to the original artwork. Sure, there are a few lousy paint jobs here and there, but it is generally not noticable. XD
Anyway, here are some default pose of Nendoroid Totori – as shown in her box. XD
Oh … Totori looks extremely adorable in Nendoroid form there … don’t you think so? ^^
Since Rorona is not available in the Nendoroid realm, Totori had to find a new teacher to improve her alchemy skill there. Fortunately, she met Makise Kurisu and she asked the prodigy scientist to teach her. However, Kurisu gave her a test to prove that she is a genuine alchemist.
Kurisu: “Well then, please make a solution to turn a banana into gel banana.”
Totori: “Uh …. (what kind of solution is that anyway?)”
Kurisu: “It should be easy for you, right?”
Totori: “Uh … I guess so … ?”
Kurisu: “Chimu, how long has Totori been studying alchemist?”
Chimu: “Ummm … probably about a year or so?”
Kurisu: “I see … then she should not have any problem with this test. ;)”
Chimu: “………….”
Totori: “(How am I supposed to make an item without its recipe? Argh …..)”
Totori’s stress level and nervousness seemed to be piling up, and it caused her concentration to fall significantly. Yep, she eventually spilled her mixture there. XD
Will she fail the test? ^^;
Conclusion
Well then, I think that is about all of my review about Nendoroid Totori. So, does she worth to buy? By all means, yes! Her beautiful outfit design as well as detailed parts and accessories make her stands out compared to the other normal-run Nendoroid. As I have mentioned above, this Nendoroid has the quality of limited/exclusive Nendoroid with a regular pricing. Nice! ^^
OK, see you again on my next review, Nendonesian! XD
yes I agree with you conclusion but the only down part is she only has one straight hand
Now that you mention it … yes, that’s her only downside, I think. XD
Cute~
Though Chimu cant really speak. 😀
Ah … thanks for the correction. I didn’t play PS3’s Atelier series yet. XD
[…] many kinds of combinations enough to make Nendoroids so much fun to play with. Here is an example: Totori with Sena’s faceplate that gives her another level of cuteness IMHO. […]
I planning to get one now…I hope it’s worth
She comes with a lot of stuff that will surely worth the price tag, in my personal opinion. XD
