You may wonder why I do a review of Nendoroid Dead Master (DM) now. Yes, she is supposed to be getting a review right after Nendoroid Makise Kurisu: White Coat version, but I reviewed Nendoroid Kousaka Kirino instead. ^^;
Actually, I have finished taking the review photos back then on February, but I did not quite satisfied with the results. Within this time frame, Nendoroud Kousaka Kirino was released, and I felt really tempted to review her first. After I finished with Kirino’s review, I decided to have another photo session with DM and a diorama set to complete my review photo collection. ^^
OK, enough with the chit-chat, let’s dive directly into the review, shall we? ^^
BRS: “May I take initiative to attack her first?”
Me: “That’s what they call cheating, BRS-chan … put your cannon down, please.”
Pardon BRS’ rudeness, Nendonesian. So … here is how DM’s box looks like:
BRS: “………..”
Me: “………. you heard me, BRS-chan.”
BRS: “………..”
Anyway, the green-black theme with chessboard-like background similar to Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter’s box. IMHO the packaging really suits DM’s design. ^^
Here is the complete parts listing:
- 4 face plates (one attached)
- 1 extra hair for CHANxCO face plate
- 2 left arms (one attached)
- 2 right arms (one attached)
- An optional arm (can be used for either right or left arm)
- 2 left palms (one attached)
- 2 right arms (one attached)
- 3 left legs (one attached)
- 2 right legs (one attached)
- 2 skulls with neon green eyes
- a stand base with stands for hanging the skulls
Yes, the packaging also includes a quick manual to setup the stand base for DM’s flying skulls.
That said, I was still having some difficulties attaching the stand to the skull – refer to either #2 or #3 in the pic above. ^^
So … what so special about Nendoroid Dead Master? Actually, there are a lot of things to love on her. Here are a few of them:
The first feature is the amazing detail on her sculpting – you could see how detailed her palms and the scythe holder are.
Her vertebrae-shaped horns are also looking great there with glossy black color … not to mention that both of them are removable, so you could also put them into the CHANxCO hairset. ^^
I really like huke‘s character design, especially his eyes design. Yes, DM’s expressions are simply stunning (or unique, if you prefer). Oh, and the CHANxCO expression adds a “cute” feeling to the set of DM’s sinister expressions. ^^
Well then, let’s see some default pose pics of DM:
Now … let’s see some action-scene photos of Nendoroid Dead Master. ^^
It looks like the battle is getting hotter with DM taking the initiative to strike first … *BULP*
ヽ(*゚д゚)ノ”Whoa!! What’s happening?”
Are we having a power outage? I have a feeling that someone might be trying to sabotage the battle.
……
……
……
BRS’ voice: “W-w-what the-!? H-hey, what are you doing!?”
DM’s voice: “Aiyeeeeeeeeeeee!!!”
W-w-what is that sound!?
……
……
……
*BULP* Ah … the power has been restored … however …
BRS: Release me at once!! ヽ(`皿′)ノ
DM: *sob* ヽ(‘A`) ノ
W-whoa … both BRS and DM are chained! Who did it!?
…. it looks like the battle scene between DM and BRS has caught Nendoroid Kousaka Kirino (a.k.a Kiririn-shi)’s attention. Yes, apparently she is the one who made the electricity went down and chained both BRS and DM in the dark – just to take a photo of her fave anime characters. I can see that she is a real die-hard fan of Black Rock Shooter (I made this up though). ^^;
OK, let’s pretend that Kiririn-shi’s intervention never happened. ^^;
So … in conclusion, is Nendoroid Dead Master worth to be purchased? Either you are a fan of BRS or not, I have to say YES for the features that I have mentioned above. Note that you also get a bunch of parts and accessories (although not as many as BRS) for the standard pricing of 3500 Yen. I could still find DM on sale at several retailers though, so I suggest you should get one if you have the fund. ^^
Well then, that’s about all of my review today. See you on my next review, Nendonesian! ^^
