Nendoroid 39: Kagamine Rin

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin

Since I am currently in holiday mode, I have a plenty of time to write some reviews during my holidays, so you could expect some reviews coming up this week. ^^

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin finally joins her Vocaloid sisters to be reviewed after Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka. A little biography on Rin: she is the twin sister of Kagamine Len and their family name are a combination of “mirror” (kagami) and “sound” (ne), while Rin and Len means “right” and “left” respectively.

OK, now that you know who Rin is, let’s get directly to the review after the break. ^^

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin's box

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin's box

Yep, Nendoroid Kagamine Rin has the same box theme design as other Vocaloid Nendoroid – small grid patterns on black-colored background. Anyway, if you noticed, Rin’s attached face inside the box is not the default one because I have already unboxed her and changed her face plate before putting her back to the box, back then in Nendonesia’s first gathering in Surabaya, Indonesia. ^^

The container and face decals

The container and face decals

Upon (re)unboxing her and removing her container, we could see that Rin has included a blank face plate and that is why she also has a sheet of face decals inside the box. IMHO this is one of Nendoroid Kagamine Rin’s special features/characteristics. ^^

So … should I put one of those decals into the blank face plate? Well, I think I will wait for Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Absolute HMO Edition, because I heard that she would also bring a special face decals for both Rin and Len. ^^

Kagamine Rin and Len - HMO Edition?

Kagamine Rin and Len - HMO Edition?

With less than one month for Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Absolute HMO Edition, I think it is reasonable enough for me to wait for it. ^^ Now let’s see if I could duplicate Rin’s blank face plate … (・∀・)

Parts and accessories

Parts and accessories

Anyway, here is a complete listing of parts and accessories included within the package:

  • Two right hands and palms (one attached)
  • One left hands (already attached)
  • Four face plates (one attached, one blank face)
  • Two pair of right legs (one attached)
  • Two pair of left legs (one attached)
  • One mic
  • One stand base

Another special things about Nendoroid Kagamine Rin is her face plates. What is so special about it? (aside from the blank face, of course ^^)

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin's face plates

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin's face plates

Do you see something odd on Rin’s face plates? Yep, they are all earless. Most Nendoroid’s face plates have ears while Rin does not. That means you cannot  put most Nendoroid face plates on Rin’s head … and vice versa? Well I have not tried putting Rin’s face plates on another Nendoroid’s head though, but logically, Rin’s face plates should be compatible with the other heads. ^^

The stand base

The stand base

… and the last – but not least – unique features of Nendoroid Kagamine Rin is her stand base. As you can see from above pic, Rin’s stand base are using pinching mechanism rather than docking (most Nendoroid) or plug-in-the-backhole (some recent Nendoroid). IMHO this mechanism bring several advantages over the others, such as: (1) unrestricted legs/feet movement and (2) no hole in her back.

Oh, and did I mention that Rin is also capable of standing without the stand base? Yep, although you still need to adjust her pose to stabilize her balance in order to achieve it though, but it is also a noteworthy feature of Rin. ^^

OK, now let’s see some photos of her posing on the camera. ^^

Kagamine Rin-tachi!

Kagamine Rin-tachi!

If you are familiar with Rin, you should have known that she is kinda energetic or rather … sly, and she chose Nagato Yuki as her next target. ^^

Kagamine Rin was teasing Nagato Yuki

Kagamine Rin was teasing Nagato Yuki

… and it seems that Rin went a little overboard there, as Yuki showed her rarely seen emotion there (angry) being teased by Rin. ^^

I think that is all for my review today. So in conclusion, is Nendoroid Kagamine Rin worth a purchase? It is a YES if you are either a Vocaloid fan or Nendoroid lover, although her current market price might turn you off considering her rarity. ^^;

Well then, see you again on my next review, Nendonesian! ^^

It’s more simple to duplicate the decal rather than duplicate the blank faceplate..
when you duplicate the decal, you can use the decal over and over because you have plenty..
well, I can’t wait for miku HMO..

and, nice photograph (thanks to your new Camera..lol)
the stand base are not seen clearly so Rin looks more alive..

How many times can you use the blank faces? Can you remove the stickers

    • Anonymous says:

The face decals are removable after you put it into the blank face plate, so yes, you could use it many times, as long as you have the decals. ^^
