Nendoroid 33: Hatsune Miku

The legendary Nendoroid Hatsune Miku is finally here to be reviewed. The Nendoroid form of the most popular character from Vocaloid has been resurrected reissued 4 times by GSC since her initial release on March 2008 and she’s still on-demand until now. So, what is so special about her?

First, let’s start from her parts and accessories. It looks like she doesn’t bring many items along with her, but it’s not that bad considering her official retail price of 3000 Yen – though I’m pretty sure you couldn’t get her for that price now. ^^; So what’s inside the box?

Here’s the listing:

  • 3 face plates (one attached)
  • 2 right hands
  • 3 right palms (one for holding the leek)
  • 1 left hand
  • 1 left palm
  • 1 right leg
  • 2 left legs
  • 1 leek
  • 1 optional front hair for Hachune-style face plate

Looking at the above listing, I think there’s nothing exceptional about her parts and accessories. Hmm … let’s move on to the next section: how Miku-chan poses against the cam. Maybe we can learn something about her specialty here.

I think you’ve realized it. Yep, Miku-chan is able to stand firmly enough without a stand base. How is that possible? Apparently, we can use her twin tails to support the body, along with her legs. I don’t think there are many Nendoroids that have this feature. ^^;

OK, here’s another poses: (isn’t Miku-chan adorable? ^^)

The truth is … this is the first Nendoroid that caught my sight on the first time, back then in early 2008. I didn’t know much about Nendoroid stuff at that time, so I kinda ignore her by thinking “she’s cute, that’s all.” In late 2009, I crossed path with her again, and this time she completely lured me down into the Nendoroid world. But I was late … Miku-chan were already rare at that time and her price tag sky-rocketed. I couldn’t afford her that time, so I turned my attention to another affordable Nendoroids while adding Miku-chan to my wishlist. I was lucky to meet her again in an anonymous figure store at a mall last month (June 2010), and this time I adopted her, finally.

Ah, I am not supposed to write about my own story here … pardon me. *cough* Anyway, Nendoroid Hatsune Miku has all it needs to be a must-have: cute, adorable, Vocaloid, leek, and twin-tails – no, I’m not a fetish on any of them. Now you know why it’s been reissued 4 times. ^^;

Here’s some bonus photos for you who have been reading this review until the end. ^^
